Landscape Construction & Installation: Summerhill Associates

Landscape Architect: Terrain Work

The owners of this beautiful new construction nestled on the banks of the Hudson River wanted to showcase the impressive landscape from their decks and outdoor living areas, and equally from the vantage point of boaters passing on the River. We focused on subtle 360° illumination around trees and planting beds. A blend of subtle uplighting and downlighting, and silhouette lighting through leaves and branches, complement the views through the seasons.

Lighting Highlights the Landscape

Viewed from above, the waterside lighting plan begins to unfold.

Step Lighting

Soft illumination of the steps and walkways provide both safety and visual interest.

Focal Point

Symmetrical uplighting creates a softly illuminated focal point from all vantage points.

Views from Every Angle

The landscape installation leads and lighting follows. The devil is in the details.

Views down from the house and up from the River showcase the subtle and beautiful landscape of this unique property by day and night.

Anchors

Uplit trees are positioned and lit, anchoring the landscape around the deck.

Riverside. Just WOW.

Uplighting and wall lighting highlight the boat ramp and provide safe accessibility to and from the River.

Warm & Inviting

Uplighting through the plantings softly illuminates the entry and throws silhouette shadows.

Silhouettes

Downlighting through the leaves and branches of the trees create silhouettes inside the home, and also onto the home’s white stone dust courtyard.
